In 2012, Philippine Normal University North Luzon surpassed level 2 of the AACUP (Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines) accreditation. From there, the institution has set its aspirations towards the 3rd level. In July 25-28, 2017, PNU-NL once again welcomed AACCUP for the 3rd Level (Bachelor of Secondary Education and Bachelor of Elementary Education Program) and Preliminary Survey Visit (OBTEC/Outcomes-based Teacher Education Curriculum).

The accreditors headed by Prof. Helen F. Bais and Prof. Jessie Grace M. Sannadan both from Kalinga State University arrived in the campus on July 24 where they were warmly welcomed by the PNU-NL community led by Dr. Bert J. Tuga, Vice-President for University Relations and Advancement.

For a number of days, the team of accreditors perused and verified documents and pertinent preparations for accreditation checking details thoroughly. Eventually, the activity culminated with an exit conference and closing program with the faculty and staff of the institution. Accreditors revealed the strengths and weaknesses of the campus in accordance to the areas subjected for accreditation.
