JANE N. CARIAGA, Ph.D., is a Full Professor of Philippine Normal University North Luzon. He is currently serving as Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Teacher Education Research in Indigenous Peoples Education. Prior to his current post, he served as Head of the Music, Arts, and Physical Education Department. He is also the founder of the Danggayan Cultural Group in 1990.
Dr. Cariaga earned his Doctor of Education with specialization in Educational Management and Master of Arts in Education with specialization in Educational Management both from Isabela Colleges, Cauayan City, Isabela. He also finished his Master of Arts in Education Major in Music, Arts and Physical Education from University of La Salette, Santiago City .He finished his academic requirements in Master of Arts in Education with Specialization in Physical Education at Philippine Normal University – Manila. He earned his Bachelor in Elementary Education from Philippine Normal University – Isabela and his specialization in Physical Education from PNU-Manila. He also finished his Bachelor of Laws and Letter (LLB) from Isabela State University, Cauayan Campus.
He documented the different traditional dances of Isabela starting from the Yogads of Echague and Payac, Jones, Isabela, the Gaddangs of Nabuan, Santiago City, and the Ibanags of Casibarag Norte and Sur of Cabagan, Isabela. He was awarded as one of the Ten Most Oustanding Isabelinos in the field of Culture and Arts Category. As a cultural worker helping in the conservation and preservation of the cultural heritage of the Isabelinos, his professional interest is in reviving the traditional dances of the different tribes in Isabela.
